Silver Key Ring With Round Sepik Inspired Mask
This beautiful sterling silver key ring has a tribal mask from the Sepik area of Papua New Guinea and has a length of 50mm and width of 14mm. The masks from the Sepik area are both beautiful and mystifying with their ancestry. Traditionally the masks were supposed to represent the spirits of the world. Each mask would be delicately hand made from mud and clay and then embellished with details such as shells and grass. The finished product would represent one of the spirits that the people believed in. During ceremonies and celebrations the people would attach the masks to their dance outfits so that the spirits could be invoked through them.
