Lewa Necklace by Bilum & Bilas
This piece showcases ancient weaving skills as 'bilum beads' are handcrafted by Papua New Guinean female artisans who have inherited their cultural knowledge from their elders. Each piece supports women employed for their traditional skills. The necklace boasts an adjustable leather cord and rose gold filled bars.
The gold fill won’t wear like plating - its thick layer of gold content is heat bonded to a metal core to ensure its lustre for years to come. The natural fibre is called rapa in local language - similar to sisal plant - hand foraged, processed, and handwoven by artisans in PNG.
