This luxurious sterling silver bezel set pendant features a fabulous doublet opal, measuring approximately 12X 9mm in a tear drop shape. The vibrant and electric blues dance a  play of colour. The doublet is made with a layer of natural black opal crystal which shows a lot of depth to the colour. The chain can be purchased separately.

A doublet opal is a layer of Australian light opal backed onto natural stone. Depending on the colours they can be less than half the price of solid Australian opal. It is important not to wear doublet opals in water.

Australian solid opals are among the most precious gemstones in the world and are known for their eye-catching beauty and array of vivid colours. They range from 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale of hardness. Solid opals can be worn in water, however they do not like detergents, or any chemicals. It requires care when wearing so as to not scratch or break the stone.
