This pendant has been made from sterling Silver and is inspired by the South Pacific Sepik Mask from Papua New Guinea. This pendant has a size of 4.5cm x 12mm and the mask shows exquisite detailing of inlaid shells and pigs tusks from the nose. The Sepik masks are a traditionally mystical mask that was created to represent the totem spirits. The Papua New Guinean people would hand make the masks out of mud or clay and then decorate them with materials such as shells and grass so that they would represent the spirits. In this pendant the shells can be seen as a decoration and that is inspired by the shell details in the Sepik mask that they packed tight so that they may look like scales. There masks would be worn during ceremonies by the elders so that they could become the spirit teachers. This pendant is a reminder of the traditions of Papua New Guinea.
