This sterling silver tribal mask pendant is inspired by the South Pacific Sepik river area of Papua New Guinea. The pendant shows grass beard and shell detail and is at a size of 5x1.5cm. These masks are special to the people as they hand craft them and they represent their totem spirits. Each mask is hand made from mud or clay and detail is set into it before they can dry. This pendant has shell detailing that has been overlapped to create a scale-like look and grass has been set into it to make a beard. The masks would then be attached to their dance outfits during ceremonies so that the spirts could join them. This pendant is designed after those masks and is wonderful way to be reminded of the traditions of Papua New Guinea.
